Import Duty Calculator FAQ

How do I calculate import duties for the US?

Identify the correct HTS code, look up the base MFN rate, check for additional layers (Section 301, 232, reciprocal, Section 122), then add MPF (0.3464%) and HMF (0.125% for ocean). Our calculator handles all of this automatically.

What is the current tariff rate on imports from China?

China imports face the base MFN rate plus Section 301 tariffs (7.5%-100% depending on product list), plus Section 122 (10%). The total varies significantly by product — steel from China could face 100%+ while some consumer goods face 17-30%.

What are Section 232 tariff rates in 2026?

Steel (Ch. 72-73): 50% from most countries. Aluminum (Ch. 76): 50%. Exceptions: UK (25%), Canada aluminum (10%), Russia aluminum (200%). Increased by Presidential Proclamation effective March 12, 2025.

Do tariffs stack on top of each other?

Yes. A steel product from China could face: base MFN + Section 301 + Section 232 + Section 122 + MPF + HMF. Our calculator automatically identifies and stacks all applicable layers for any HTS code and country combination.
