Classification, Needs review and failure

A classification identifies a product in the selected import market's tariff schedule. U.S., EU and Canadian codes and results are separate; a result in one market is not confirmation in another.

Needs review means a code was proposed but still needs human assessment. Check the reasoning, supporting sources and missing or conditional product facts. A failed run is different: it did not finish with an accepted classification. Existing imported codes may still be displayed and are not evidence that the failed run verified them.

Human verification is an explicit user action. Confirm the product facts, selected market, code and reasoning before using it. A verified classification is not a complete tariff or regulatory determination.

What does a confidence score mean?

The model assigns an evidence-strength score based on the supplied product facts and retrieved support. Missing or conflicting facts can lower it. It is not a calibrated probability that a customs authority will agree.

An assistant-verified badge is different from human verification. Use the confidence explanation beside classification results for the applicable threshold. Filtering a review queue by score does not change the saved score or the verification policy.

Why do duties need an entry date, origin or quantities?

Classification and tariff calculation answer different questions. A base MFN rate does not establish every additional duty, preference, tax or fee. Measures can depend on origin, entry date, product scope and a valid preference claim; origin alone does not establish FTA eligibility.

Specific or compound duties may need weight, volume or other reporting quantities as well as customs value. Shipping quantity is not always the quantity used by the tariff schedule. Keep the units shown beside each field.

If a calculation is incomplete, review its actionable requirements. Verified base duty may remain visible while other treatment is unresolved; do not treat an absent amount as zero or a partial amount as the complete landed cost. Freight and service costs are separate inputs.

Product facts, files and photos

Provide the facts that distinguish your product: materials and percentages, construction, function, dimensions and how it is imported. A photograph can support visible observations but cannot establish hidden composition, origin or manufacturing processes.

Follow the supported file types and size limits shown by the upload control. Chat attachments belong to that conversation. Saving a chat answer, uploading evidence and applying a catalogue classification are different actions; check the destination and the confirmation before changing a product.

Do not assume a whole catalogue was fully audited because an attachment was read. Agree the products and questions to review, and inspect the saved results for each product.

Sources, older rulings and the Context panel

Open cited sources and compare their product facts with yours. A relevant historical ruling can be useful, but its old tariff number should not automatically be reused for a current entry. Modification or revocation can affect a specific portion and may have a later effective date.

The Context panel shows source links retained for the conversation. A missing link does not prove that no tool ran; use the answer's citations and, where available, administrator diagnostics to investigate. News and Rulings show saved workspace matches, not an exhaustive list of every relevant publication.

New, Reviewed and Dismissed describe your feed workflow, not a ruling's legal validity. Source-reported status and directional change links are shown separately when reference metadata is available. Unavailable metadata is not an active-status confirmation.

Fast, Research and saved conversations

Fast is for focused answers and directly requested lookups or calculations. Research can gather and compare more evidence and take longer. Neither mode guarantees that every relevant authority or product fact has been found.

Background research exposes progress and saves its final answer. You can navigate away and return to the conversation; cancellation stops that run rather than approving a classification. Use steering to correct facts while research is running. Clarifying questions are useful when the answer depends on a missing fact.

Updates, troubleshooting and contacting an expert

Saved answers and classifications are records of work at that time; they do not continuously rewrite themselves whenever reference data changes. Check the selected date and available source or calculation timestamp, and recalculate or reassess when necessary.

Automatic matching and scheduled updates depend on the deployment's configured jobs. The presence of a News or Rulings tab does not promise that a scheduler is enabled. Administrators can inspect the available job status.
